Carson - 2/10 Woeful mistake. Will carry the can.
Richards - 3/10 Absolutely rubbish. Cool head needed
Campbell - 4/10 Best in back 4 but bad distribution
Lescott - 2/10 McClaren's humiliation of Carragher led to this
Bridge - 1/10 Worst game he'll ever play
Wright-Philips - 2/10 Started ok but still out of sorts
Gerrard
- 1/10 Rafa tried to tell the world about Gerrards bad passing when he
gets to "passionate" but got slated for it. Woeful
Barry - 2/10 Did little right. No protection to back four
Lampard - 2/10 Scored penalty. Some decent moments
Cole - 4/10 Ran the ball, tried to create openings
Crouch - 8/10 Can hold his head up high
Subs - 3/10 (all)

all he had to do was not to play lampard, have a midfield with hergreaves and gerrard, garth barry to play left back (his original position) and put james in net.

up front i would have played bent and crouch, on the right bekham (until he gets tired), probably lennon on the left or jo cole. Lescot would never make it in the bench for me.. obviously he must regret how he devalued Carra.. i respect him for quitting England, if anything, the move was late.. should have quit much earlier.

finally.. you cant play 4-5-2 when you're home?!! surely.

bottom line.. he shouldnt have played cason in that game.. you ease a young player into the NT.. and not have him start in the nations most crucial game of the year!!

It's ALWAYS A MISTAKE TO THROW AWAY YOUR BIGGEST STAR IN ANY TEAM......unless of course your name is FABIO CAPELLO- and even he had to bring beck Becks and Ronaldo

When Becks got axed I KNEW that England was going to be rubbish and so said so done.

Soon Dunga is going to realize that he needed Ronaldo as well. Vagner Love is a disgrace to the sacerd #9 shirt and Fabiano is great, but no Ronaldo.

Also the unhealthy obsession with Steven Gerrard is quite frighteneing. The guy is good, great even...but he isn't irreplaceable, not very fast and not the smartest of players either. Despite his sometimes questionable form I'd take Frank Lampard to be my CAM in a heartbeat.

Sorry to say it but Becks is england's best midfielder.....nad his experience, vision and technical and deadball skills are without par. Him, Rooney, a fit Owen (see those two words can fit on the same line), Ferdinnad and Terry are world class. The rest are rubbish or haven't fulfilled their potentials....esp SWP

SWP is a disaster... a natural disaster

theo walcott should replace him anytime soon

the idiots thinks that football is just about running... the more he runs.. the better he'll feel about his performance

the team needs a new manager... and he needs at least 4 years to improve the squad...

i say go for capello

all the other managers arent interested

gerrard can make things happen, lampard cant. Remember istanbul?
mark lowernce wrote an article in which he said England only have 1 world class player- and he defined world class to be a player who will go straight into the first 11 of most teams- and only Gerrard can do that in england. Not rooney, Lampard, Ferdinand or Terry. i agree.

And this is why You English will continue to be rubbish. Who is more experienced than Becks?? Beckham was HEAD and SHOULDERS over EVERYBODY at the 06 WC and you STILL shat on him......it was Beckham's great pass that helped England to beat Trinidad and Tobago (that and Crouchinho's pulling donw the defender by his dreadlocks which the ref conveniently didn't see Suspect ) Then it was grande Beckham that scored a free kick and pulled England's ungrateful asses out later on again.

The English are so conceited that they don't recognise true class that isn't their own that they will neglect their own strengths and conceitedly try to beat the Brazils and Argentinas at their own game. Instead of strengthening their own style that needs only a little tweaking they will now try to emplow a bunch of frauds like SWP to "out-brazilian" the other nations.

Rooney- bess his heart is sooooo far below the likes of Aguero, Messi, Gio etc.....maybe even Pato of course that won't stop them from proclaiming him as the next Pele and nonesense of that sort.

England's ONLY world class forward is Owen and he is injured so much I wonder if he could reproduce his old form.

Ferdinand is GREAT but the guy used to get confused with a couple step-overs. Thank god that CR7 does it to him all the time in training so he can understand them. Terry is great but any world class Brazilian or Argentine forward could easily rape him and so on.

England has a GREAT game. They should stick to their strengths. This is what all the champs have done.....Brazil has ALWAYS had a crap defence and a SUPER attack. Italy has always stressed their defence. Germany has always kept the value of organisation to the forefront.

PostSubject: Re: England Qualifiers   Sat Nov 24, 2007 6:43 pm

only problem is, english players DONT ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO KEEP THE BALL.

when you watch any other players, french italian czech brazilian argentinian mexican colombian, even nigerians ivoreans.. you tend to find their players COMFORTABLE with the ball; their right and left backs would take the ball, take on the nearest player to them (without being afraid of losing the ball) and carry it forward..

english players on the other hand, get the ball and wanna pass it immediately for fear of losing the ball.
why? because they're not 'technical' enough, so to speak, to hold the ball, pass the ball around at ease and take players on.

while with every other national team you find that players are technically good enough to just keep passing the ball- keep possession even if you go back to defence and start again- slow the game down when you need to.. all this is lacking with the english national team.. they struggle to even put a 2 minute spell of possession with the ball.

the philosophy of the english game needs to be updated, the academy is producing players based on a philosophy that IS SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Just because beckham did a couple of things doesn't make him our best player. Gerrard is probably our best. We didn't deserve to beat Ecuador and Trinidad i believe other players scored. Either way, i've never really rated him. He's a dead ball specialist and very good at it, but other than that he doesn't add much to the team.
