PostSubject: Domenech: I Don't Like Panucci   Sun Nov 18, 2007 12:06 pm

Panucci headed home a stoppage time winner against Scotland
yesterday to send both Italy and France through to the finals of Euro
2008.
Domenech was asked earlier today if he was thankful to Panucci for scoring the goal that clinched qualification for Les Bleus.
"I don't like Panucci much but I thank him anyway," sniped Domenech.
"Italy's result doesn't bother me as we are preparing for our game with
Ukraine on Wednesday."
Domenech and Panucci have a bitter history and in 2001 the French
boss unleashed a stinging critique of the Azzurri star, while he was
playing for Monaco.
"This guy possesses all the flaws you can find in football," Domenech said.
"He is the biggest cheat I've ever known.
"I've seen some troublemakers among Italian defenders but never like him.
"Time-wasting, shirt-pulling, tackles from behind - he's a real wind-up merchant."
It remains to be seen what Italy make of Domenech's latest comments
but the 56-year-old is certainly getting under Rino Gattuso's skin.
“Raymond Domenech is always being such a pain and he really did not
deserve to reach the finals," said the Milan hardman following
yesterday's win over Scotland.

PostSubject: Re: French NT   Sun Dec 09, 2007 8:18 am

Gennaro Gattuso has told Raymond Domenech he is the cause of Italy’s increasingly ugly relationship with France.
The
two sides have been bitter rivals since the 2006 World Cup Final and
the situation deteriorated after the Euro 2008 qualifiers and their
draw in the same group for next summer’s European Championship.
It prompted Gattuso to state he was glad they’d be facing France again so
they could “teach them a lesson,” but in an interview with Canal+
attempted to calm the waters.
InFrance the only person who talks rubbish is Domenech. He is the only
one pitting the two countries against each other,” insisted the Azzurri
champ.
The thing that really disappoints me is the fact all this rivalry is
unnecessary. Yet a few words too many, said by a single person, created
an ugly situation that I do not like.”
Domenech fell foul of UEFA when he received a one-match touchline ban for making
unfounded allegations about Italy “buying the referee” during an
Under-21 international match against France.
The Bleus Coach was unrepentant and recently told journalists: “The Italians provoke me and then blame me for everything.”

I think he's right, Domenech doesn't even call Trezeguet to the NT despite his wonderful form...

trez fucked up in the WC .. i dont think they'll ever forgive him for that stupid PK

and he's a ghost of his form in Juve... i guess some players just play better at club level.

the whole zizu-materazzi incident is what fucked up relations between the two teams.. not the manager.

yea... that was more shocking that surprising

in any case, he hardly made an impression.. anelka was all over the place.

anelka-henry are the best pair i think

and cisse is a good 2nd half supersub.. utilizing his speed like he did

although.. i must say.. i was expecting to see benzeman and ben arfa and all the other "young stars"

something tells me theyre only on the bench for the experience ( a big mistake )

he needs to start playing them... if he wants them to gain confidence and play better and gelling with each other for the future

i agree .. it SHOULD be like that

somehow i feel like henry's gonna end up in the bench...

ben arfa... or nasri might get a chance

but for starters .. this team looks pretty solid

im not sure about the aging thuram.. im pretty sure theyve got some other defenders besides him that can cover the CB

Djibril Cisse is one of seven players who've failed to make the France cut on Wednesday and won'y be heading to Euro 2008.

Raymond Domenech unveiled his final 23-man squad on Wednesday for the Austria and Switzerland showpiece.

Cisse
was targeted by the boo boys during France's
warm-up match against Ecuador on Tuesday, having missed a header. The
Marseille star now misses his second successive major finals after a
horrific broken leg ruled him out of the 2006 World Cup.

Domenech's other big surprise was perhaps Mathieu Flamini, who was also left out along with Mickael Landreau,
Julien Escude, Philippe Mexes, Alou Diarra and Hatem
Ben Arfa.

St Etienne striker
Bafetimbi Gomis was given the nod after bagging a stunning brace on his
debut on Tuesday. He was the fist French player to do so since Zinedine
Zidane.

Cisse's
Marseille teammate Steve Mandanda was another player blooded on Tuesday
who has been boldly included by Domenech as goalkeeping cover.

France face a 'group of death' scenario in Group C against World Cup and Euro qualifying rivals Italy, The Netherlands, and
Romania.

France squad:

Goalkeepers: Gregory Coupet (Lyon), Sebastien Frey (Fiorentina/ITA), Steve Mandanda (Marseille)

Defenders: Eric Abidal (Barcelona/ESP), Patrice Evra (Manchester
United/ENG), William Gallas (Arsenal/ENG), Willy Sagnol (Bayern
Munich/GER), Lilian Thuram (Barcelona/ESP), Francois Clerc (Lyon),
Sebastien Squillaci (Lyon), Jean-Alain Boumsong (Lyon)

Midfielders: Lassana Diarra (Portsmouth/ENG), Claude Makelele
(Chelsea/ENG), Jeremy Toulalan (Lyon), Patrick Vieira (Inter
Milan/ITA), Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich/GER), Samir Nasri (Marseille)

Forwards:: Nicolas Anelka (Chelsea/ENG), Thierry Henry
(Barcelona/ESP), Florent Malouda (Chelsea/ENG), Karim Benzema (Lyon), Sidney
Govou (Lyon), Bafetimbi Gomis (St Etienne).

I can't believe France have kept Domenech! With such a group of players, he found a way not only to lose, but to lose and be painfully boring at the same time. How can they do worse? Next time they'll hire the whole Newcastle staff!
